What we'll do
Step aboard "Passions III" for the best 1-day Great Barrier Reef trip available!
Departing every day from Cairns, the award-winning Passions of Paradise cruise is our favourite way to see the Great Barrier Reef. This custom-built 25-metre catamaran is one of the fastest boats in Cairns, meaning you can get out to the outer-reef and visit 2 amazing reef locations. With 24 private locations to choose from, every day is different but you are guaranteed the best possible experience.
At the first outer reef location, you can snorkel, dive, sunbathe, or chill out on the boat. Green turtles, manta rays, clownfish, soft and hard corals – you never know what you will come across when you snorkel in the warm, clear waters of the Great Barrier Reef! Or choose to upgrade to a Certified Dive or Introductory Dive, all lead by expert instructors in small groups of up to 6 people.
Afterwards, enjoy a tasty tropical buffet lunch of hot and cold dishes including local fruit. At the second outer reef location, you can once again choose to jump in for a swim, snorkel, dive or relax. On the way home, you can listen to an informative and entertaining talk about the marine ecosystem from a certified guide. Or wind down with a cold beverage and some afternoon tea as you sail back to Cairns, arriving at approximately 5:00 pm.

About your guides
Passions of Paradise is a Cairns local business and one of the few tour companies in Cairns that is still owner-operated. They don’t own multiple boats and are not owned by a multinational. They have always been, and remain, a small dedicated operator focused on providing you with exceptional customer service and a fun day.
Their hand-picked staff have a passion for showing guests the adventurous nature of the Great Barrier Reef which has helped them win many awards including the Australian Tourism Award for Adventure Tourism. Passions of Paradise prides itself on its accreditation as an Eco-Certified Advanced Ecotourism operator. This certification means that Passions of Paradise has demonstrated a strong, well managed commitment to sustainable practices and provides high-quality nature-based tourism experiences.
What should I bring? We recommend a small bag containing your beach towel, bathing suit, hat, sunglasses, practical clothing, footwear and sunscreen (at least 30+ SPF). Please also bring $20 AUD for the Reef Levy, payable at check-in with cash or credit card (1.5% surcharge). Don't forget your sense of fun and adventure!
Where do we start and finish? Tours start and finish at the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal, Pier Point Road, Cairns. You check-in at the counter at the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal at the end of Spence Street, Marlin Marina.
How long does the tour go for? Tour departs at 8:00 am and returns at approximately 5:00 pm. Check-in is between 7:00 and 7:45 am.
What days does the tour operate? Every day!
What do we eat? The tropical buffet lunch includes five different salads, plus two hot dishes, of which one is always vegetarian. Morning and afternoon tea, which includes snacks and fruit, are also provided during the day.
Do you cater for specific diets? The tour can cater for a range of dietary requirements, as well as medical conditions/food allergies. Please contact us when booking if you have any specific dietary needs.
Who can come? Everyone is welcome on this tour!
What if I can't swim? The Passions of Paradise crew will look after you. The boat has a large range of snorkel vests and buoyancy aids available for you to use, and there are two snorkel stations near our boat for you to hold on to while you build up your confidence. The crew will also hop in the water with you until you are comfortable.
What if I get seasick? If you are prone to seasickness, it is advisable to take something before you go. Check with a chemist. As Passions is a catamaran, it is a lot more stable in rough weather than monohulls and the sails act as a stabiliser. Seasickness pills are sold on board, but please remember, tablets are a preventative, not a cure, so take them just before departure.
- Cancellations made 1 day or more before the activity starts will receive a full refund.
- No cancellations can be made within 1 day of the activity.
- Tours are dependent on the weather, so once or twice a year there may be a cancellation by the operator due to extreme weather conditions. If your trip is cancelled for any reason by the operator, we will refund you 100% of your payment.
