Step aboard "Passions III" for the best 1-day Great Barrier Reef trip available!
Departing every day from Cairns, the award-winning Passions of Paradise cruise is our favourite way to see the Great Barrier Reef. This custom-built 25-metre catamaran is one of the fastest boats in Cairns, meaning you can get out to the outer-reef and visit 2 amazing reef locations. With 24 private locations to choose from, every day is different but you are guaranteed the best possible experience.
At the first outer reef location, you can snorkel, dive, sunbathe, or chill out on the boat. Green turtles, manta rays, clownfish, soft and hard corals – you never know what you will come across when you snorkel in the warm, clear waters of the Great Barrier Reef! Or choose to upgrade to a Certified Dive or Introductory Dive, all lead by expert instructors in small groups of up to 6 people.
Afterwards, enjoy a tasty tropical buffet lunch of hot and cold dishes including local fruit. At the second outer reef location, you can once again choose to jump in for a swim, snorkel, dive or relax. On the way home, you can listen to an informative and entertaining talk about the marine ecosystem from a certified guide. Or wind down with a cold beverage and some afternoon tea as you sail back to Cairns, arriving at approximately 5:00 pm.

Passions of Paradise is a Cairns local business and one of the few tour companies in Cairns that is still owner-operated. They don’t own multiple boats and are not owned by a multinational. They have always been, and remain, a small dedicated operator focused on providing you with exceptional customer service and a fun day.
Their hand-picked staff have a passion for showing guests the adventurous nature of the Great Barrier Reef which has helped them win many awards including the Australian Tourism Award for Adventure Tourism. Passions of Paradise prides itself on its accreditation as an Eco-Certified Advanced Ecotourism operator. This certification means that Passions of Paradise has demonstrated a strong, well managed commitment to sustainable practices and provides high-quality nature-based tourism experiences.
The trip is guided by a group of warm and passionate crew who are always helpful, thoughtful, and giving useful recommendations as well as wonderful services. The instructors for snorkeling and diving are experienced, understanding, and put our safety as the priority. Also, the speaker of the incredible presentation regarding interesting sealife factors is very personable, engaging, and lovely. In respect of the experience, this trip provides a most relaxing and comfortable cruize covering two incredible reef locations. There is a chance of seeing turtles and clownfishes passing in front of your eyes and shyly sneaking away once they notice you. We too really enjoyed the amazingly fine colors of the ocean throughout the cruise changing between aquamarine, turquoise, ultramarine, and a shinning Maya blue under the sun, along with the vast sky being a giant gray lapis lazuli and the clouds being creamy melting marshmallows. Besides, you can meet interesting people from different parts of the world during this trip in all age ranges. Further, lunch is provided with a high quality considering all kinds of dietary needs. You can find almond milk for your coffee, and all kinds of tea are offered. Overall, it is really a fantastic experience from all perspectives. You can either enjoy one or two finely brewed beer while lying into the mixture of sunshine and breeze, or sip a cup of english breakfast while sitting near the window in the cabin. I will definitely recommend this trip.
The trip was a 10/10 experience and we had a lot of fun there. Both reef locations were wonderful and the snorkeling guide Liam did an amazing job explaing everything. I dropped my wedding ring in the water and didn't even notice till they announced to come pick it up. Thank you Kelse for your honesty and saving my marriage Thanks for the amazing experience and we highly recommend this service.
This trip was over all a 10/10 experience. There is truly something for everyone wether you want to go out snorkeling as a family, try scuba diving for the first time, or go on an awesome guided dive for more experienced / certified divers. Both of the sights that we went to on the reef were teaming with life and beautiful coral. Aside from the reef the crew was hands down amazing. I defiantly learned a lot as well from the Colorado native Russell during the presentation on the way back to shore. The vibes were great and the food was awesome. I would book this trip again in a heartbeat.
Just returned from an amazing trip today to the Great Barrier Reef- from the minute we checked in with Kirsty to the minute we shook hands with the skipper and crew everything was wonderful. Breakfast, lunch and snacks provided to a high standard- we had veg curry with couscous, a mixture of salads and bread - The two trips to the reef were great - I was quite nervous as I havent snorkelled in the deep sea before but trust me you are in really safe hands - they are totally aware of everyone in the water and their safety - we saw amazing fish and reef - On our way home we just sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the trip- it was quite choppy but we felt totally safe. A special shout out to Jess who was an absolute star and made our trip extra special Amazing, funny, caring crew - food - trip - I did my research and loved that they are the only independent company left with a private chef love it so get and book it xx
We visited as family with two (7 & 10 yo) children. Everything was great, and safety is very well taken care of. Food was good and free water was available all times. Even as the boat had many people on it, it was not at all crowded and there was plenty of space inside and outside. I suggest taking some snack for the children, as it is a bit long time between breakfast and lunch, and also between lunch and arrival. The snorkeling guides in the water were helpful, and pointing interesting fish and turtles to people. On the way back we saw a whale, and the boat was turned and stopped to give us an opportunity to see it as much as possible. I would say the boat is big enough to have the needed facilities, but still small enough to feel cosy and not like a money factory. Crew was great! We liked the first trip so much we booked another one with passions of paradise. So we made two daytrips.
