About your guides

Teepee Tours is a small Melbourne-based tour company run by Adam (or Drew for short). After failing at uni for a few years he eventually decided to get into tourism, and has been showing travellers the best way to see the Great Ocean Road since 2015.

Andrew's tours focus on bringing solo travellers from all over the world together on a completely unique tour that feels more like travelling with your friends. Andrew grew up exploring every corner of the Great Ocean Road and is a keen surfer as well as pretty handy with a guitar.

DAY 1 - Great Ocean Road

Your adventure starts with pick up from either St Kilda (8:30 am) or Melbourne CBD (9:00 am). Meet your guide and fellow guests and get to know each other as you create your custom music playlist for the trip. The first stop at famous Bells, where there is always some amazing surfers carving up these waves. Then it is your turn! The group will stop for an optional surf lesson (extra $25) at whatever beach has the best breaks of the day for a couple of hours with qualified instructors. Surfboards, wetsuits and free photos are all included.

Afterwards, enjoy some lunch by the beach, sit back and enjoy the majestic views as the road trip continues along Australia's most amazing coastline. Along the way, you'll stop at Kennett River, where you'll hopefully spot some wild koalas, and have cockatoos and birds fly right onto your head.

To finish the day, the group will head to a private farm where the Native American Teepee lives. Here you have complete freedom to enjoy the serenity and enjoy the night. Drink, have a BBQ, sit around the campfire, play social games, jam with the instruments on offer and finally enjoy a small fire inside the teepee. This huge teepee is decorated with fairy lights, 10 comfy beds, bean bags, sleeping bags and pillows to make sure that you have the best and most comfortable night as you drift away to the sound of waves and a crackling fire.

DAY 2 - Great Ocean Road

Wake up, have some breakfast and then it is time to get moving once again. To start Day 2 of the road trip, you'll drive through the beautiful Otway Rainforest where some of Australia's oldest and tallest eucalyptus trees are found. Then it is on to the main sights of the Great Ocean Road, with the first stop being the Gibson Steps. Head on down to the beach and take some snaps!

Continuing on to the main event, you'll get great views of 12 Apostles from a beautiful lookout point - without the crowds. Finally, the group will visit Loch And Gorge where you can really soak up the coastal atmosphere. This beach is incredibly photogenic and there is also a cave you can explore here.

Afterwards, it is time to start the journey back to Melbourne, via Colac for some lunch. Upgrade from the usual fish and chips and try some...shark and chips! The group will arrive back in Melbourne around 5:00 pm, and if you feel like hanging out with the group longer, you can go out for dinner and drinks together.

            This isn't a tour

...it's an adventure. Andrew and Adam have managed to put together an amazing experience that had me forgetting everyone on the "tour" started off as strangers. Andrew did an amazing job helping us get to know one another and we felt like we were on a road trip rather a tour from the get-go. He knew his stuff but not once did I feel lectured the entire time. We stopped at some amazing sights, had an amazing time overall and this was the highlight of my entire time in Australia. Definitely go on this trip if you can make it!

            Loved this tour!

If youre looking to see the great ocean road in all of its glory without the guilt of going on an overly touristy trip, this is the trip for you! Andrew makes this experience so personal and natural, even for a solo traveler such as myself! I had a wonderful time with great people, great sights and memories that make me want to return to Australia as soon as possible!! A must do trip for anyone visiting Melbourne.

            Great tour!

As a solo traveller I didnt want to end up on some long dragged out bus tour which you didnt met anyone else and you sat on a bus for the whole time! This was the best tour I have been on in my travels! Small group so everyone got talking and made friends! The surfing was great and I actually managed to stand up thanks to Andrews instructions! The evening in the teepee was so chilled and you didnt feel like you were on a tour at all just chilling with some mates! We did do the main tourist things but just in a way more chilled out way than the traditional tours! Would recommend it to anyone - solo travellers, friends and couple! Thank you Andrew!

            Must do trip
