  • Small-group walking tour of Pyrmont, Ultimo and Glebe
  • Discover parts of Sydney that even locals don't know about
  • Walk includes a coffee, snacks, a local craft beer and more!

What we'll do

Join a knowledgeable local guide on a fun walk through the inner-city suburbs of Pyrmont, Ultimo and Glebe!

Often ignored by visitors to Sydney and locals alike, these older neighbourhoods are bursting with stories and hidden gems.

On this walk, you'll learn why there are so many pubs in this part of Sydney and what a "VIP Lounge" is, discover the Aboriginal and early European history of the area and be surprised by our choice for Australia's "national dish". You'll also see why this is one of the most multicultural parts of Australia, gain an insight into our unique sense of humour and find out some Aussie slang along the way.

We'll stop for a coffee at a favourite local cafe mid-way through the walk, and at the end, we finish with a glass of delicious local craft beer at one of the most unique pubs you'll find in Sydney - complete with a talking pet cockatoo! We recommend doing this early in your Sydney stay as you'll get lots of tips to make your time in this city amazing.

Come see a different side of Sydney with an experienced, youthful and entertaining tour guide!

About your guides

Your main guide for this walk is Justin. I'm a recovering lawyer and the "Head Honcho" of AussieYou Tours. About 3 years ago I quit my corporate job to work in a happier industry - tourism! I love showing people around Sydney and have lived in the Glebe area for the last few years, so this walk is in my 'hood. I have also solo travelled all through South America, Europe and Asia, visiting over 40 countries. I have previously lived and studied in China - yep, 我会说中文!(I can speak Chinese)

On some weekends Atra will lead these walks. She's a long-term Pyrmont local, media lawyer during the week and fluent Japanese and Farsi speaker. Atra has lived and studied in Australia, Japan, the United States and Canada and was born in Iran. Her favourite travel destination is Europe.

        Like a local

Justin took us on a tour to the more hidden, easily missed suburbs away from the typical touristy spots. We learned about history, architecture, and heaps of other fun facts, explored local bars and cafes that are truly gems that I wouldn’t have otherwise come across, even though I was living in the same neighbourhood for two years embarrassingly! Highly recommend the tour to both visitors and locals!

Thanks for the lovely review Tracy! Always great to get a local along, and show that there is so much more to these neighbourhoods than meets the eye. Hope to catch you on another tour soon! Cheers, Justin

        Trip with Mandarin Speaking parents

I searched for Mandarin, walking tours and Sydney to see what was available and came across an article for Aussieyou  with Justin. Booked the tour for my family which includes myself (English only speaker) and my in laws who only understand Mandarin. Justin was fantastic, and took the time as we walked to translate, talk to and answer questions for my inlaws in Mandarin. It is difficult to find something we all can feel included but Justin made it possible. The tour and insights into the city including areas I would never have seen otherwise was one of the highlights of my trip. Traveled Nov 2019.

Thanks Frank, really glad you found us and was a pleasure to show you and the in-laws around! So great to hear that it was one of the highlights of your trip. Catch you when you're next back in Sydney. Cheers, Justin

Fabulous Walking Tour Not to be Missed

This is an excellent walking tour that brought us into 3 neighborhoods with lovely architecture, cafes and shops. Justin who led this walk was very engaging, told the stories of the area, provided the historical facts and places of interests that are not known to tourists. He also gave us lots of great tips for further exploration and we did stay on after the tour to explore, eat and chat with the locals!. Not to be missed - if you are in Sydney and want to experience something non touristy, this is the walk you must get on. Highly recommended.

Thanks Ann for the lovely review! Was great to show you around my hood, glad you enjoyed the stories, the cafe, the food and the chance to get beyond the main tourist attractions to see the real Sydney. Catch you next time you're in town! Cheers, Justin

        Fabulous Walking Tour

Thoroughly enjoyed spending the morning with Justin and visiting parts of Sydney that we had not previously seen (or heard of!). We have been on other walking tours in different countries but we feel like we really did learn something. I’d highly recommend doing this tour!! Thanks Justin

        10 out of 10

Justin’s walking tour was absolutely amazing! You get to know some interesting and serious history about Sydney along the walk. The spots that Justin pick are true hidden gem. You can get get an idea of how locals actually live their lives, house prices, places to go after work etc. Besides from the regular stuff, the people you met along the tour are definitely a big plus. People who took part in the tour were all super friendly and open-minded. We’ve actually become friends and made further travel plans with them. To all my dear Chinese fellows out there, Justin 人真的很好很真诚,一顶一的好老外,不用担心被骗。 强烈推荐你们去参加Justin的tour. 不过,bar crawl的话除非你是特别外向健谈的话,可能会有一点点无所适从。

Thanks Leah for the lovely review! So glad you could come on both tours, and that you could meet some other travellers too - and even plan more travel with them, so cool! Catch you next time you're in Sydney. Cheers, Justin
