Did the Vista Tour departing 7:20 am from Queenstown. Got very lucky with the weather as it was sunny almost the whole way. Tour was great bang for buck consider it lasted almost 13 hrs and included a small lunch with great scenery along the way. More expensive tours may have fancier buses/foods but pretty much same itinerary (saw all of the other buses on the same road). The driver was pretty amazing - really skilled driving and had great stories. Try to board the bus early at the first bus stop (Jucy Hostel middle of Queenstown) to snatch front row seats and try not to fall asleep because of the scenery. Expect crowds in the park as there are a lot of visitors. Cruise boat on the day of didn't feel too crowded (enough space to move around with most people on top deck). Light lunch food and hot tea/instant coffee provided with other food/drinks (alcoholic/non-alcoholic/bottled water) for purchase at rest stop in Te Anau and on boat. Buses need to keep on schedule to meet cruise boats at certain times so number of scenic stops along the way depend on traffic (also availability of parking spaces at scenic spots).
