What we'll do

Enjoy a delicious and fun multicultural dinner banquet and support retraining refugees!

Join a small group of up to 12 locals and travellers and enjoy a tasty two-course banquet at bohemian cafe Parliament on King. You'll sample food from the homelands of asylum seekers and refugees (think Burmese/Rohingya, Iraqi, Iranian, Indian, Nepali, Sri Lankan, Ugandan and more). Parliament on King is run as a social enterprise, so all proceeds will be used to fund refugee and asylum seekers projects and training.

Parliament on King's mission is simple: to make lovely food. But in doing this they address the barriers to economic, social and cultural participation asylum seekers, refugees and recent arrivals to Australia face. As you can imagine, it can be pretty tough arriving here as an outsider, it can be a lonely and difficult thing. They face enormous barriers and Parliament on King's social catering is all about helping them overcome those barriers by providing real work, training and community.

Catch up with old friends, make new ones and enjoy delicious food - what are you waiting for?

      Great concept and meal

Really enjoyed the Palestinian meal prepared by Nehad last night. This is such a great concept, thanks to Justin and Ravi. Also loved both of their stories about why they had setup their businesses and the insight into some of Nehad's background , it was a very engaging evening on top of great food. Would recommend to anyone both for the food, and an insight into the life of those who come here as refugees.

      Great food and fascinating stories

Our merry group of 10 enjoyed an absolutely delightful Palestinian meal prepared by Nehad last night. A delicious freekah soup was following by an abundance of a traditional rice dish accompanied by fattoush. I can't recall the name of the dessert but it was a perfect finish to the banquet. We appreciated enormously the opportunity to hear a little of Nehad's story and the history behind Ravi's Parliament on King. Justin was the consummate host. Highly recommended.

Fantastic evening - excellent food, great company

I had a wonderful time at this dinner. Vivian, the chef, not only made delicious dishes that catered to both vegan and non-vegan diets, but also walked us through how everything was made and invited us to have a go at cooking too. I hadn't had much in the way of Iraqi food before, so it was great to be able to sample a few dishes in a homey environment. The venue was inviting and comfortable, and it was great to meet so many new, friendly people who were open to sharing their stories and were also keen to learn more about the different experiences and cuisines Sydney and its people have to offer. A must-do for those looking to dive a little deeper into Sydney's cultural scene.

Fun event for a good cause!

I love the idea of having delicious meal, making new friends and supporting a good cause at the same time! Tried some Burmese food and it was amazing. Hope to be back and sample other cousins too.
